Spiš Castle was built in the 12th century on the site of an earlier castle. It was the political, administrative, economic and cultural centre of Szepes County of the Kingdom of Hungary.
It was included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1993 (together with the adjacent locations of Spišská Kapitula, Spišské Podhradie and Žehra). This is one of the biggest European castles by area (41 426 m²).
I have visited Spis castle after many years (last time I was there during my time at the primary school)
It is necessary to write, that some "ruins" were repaired and Today Spis Castle looks very nice and good."
But it is not only castle what is good to see and visit there. You can find there a Siva brada (mineral spring near Spis Castle) and many cultural atractions during sommer season (like Living statues at the Spis Castle, etc.)
